Loyalty points and tiers

Fixmo's loyalty programme gives customers points on the money they pay, to spend later as a discount at the till, on a repair bill or on an invoice. Five tiers, Bronze to Diamond, rank customers by what they spent or how often they came in over the last twelve months.

What it does

A customer who comes back is worth more than one who came once. Points give them a reason to come back, and tiers tell you who they are.

You set the rate. For example, one point for every dollar paid, with each point worth two cents off. That is 2% back, and the settings show the percentage as you type. A rate that gives back more than half of every purchase is refused.

Points come from money actually received, after discounts. A sale earns when it is paid. A repair earns once, when it is delivered, on the advance and the balance together. An invoice earns as it is paid, unless it was made from a repair or a sale. Those were already counted, so nothing is earned twice.

A refund or a void takes the points back. If points were spent on a bill that is then voided, they go back to the customer.

Tiers are worked out every day from the last twelve months. A customer moves up the moment they qualify, by spend or by visits, and drops one level a month after they stop. Someone who was Diamond in 2024 and has not been back since is not Diamond today.

The tier shows as a small badge next to the customer's name: in the customer list, at the till, and on repairs, sales and invoices. Their profile holds the balance, every point earned or spent with the bill it came from, and their tiers month by month.

The first time the programme is switched on, Fixmo rebuilds every customer's tier history from past sales and repairs, so the badges mean something on day one. Points themselves start at zero from that day.

Fixmo does not tell customers their balance yet. A bill shows the points spent on it, never what is left, and no message goes out by WhatsApp or email. Staff can read the balance at the till or on the profile.

Questions

Does a repair earn twice if an invoice is raised for it?

No. The points belong to the repair. An invoice made from a repair or a sale, by hand or automatically, never earns on top of it. Only an invoice made on its own earns.

What about an advance paid when the device was dropped off?

The advance and the balance are added together and earn once, when the repair is delivered. Anything recorded beyond the bill's total earns nothing.

Do past sales earn points when we switch it on?

No. Points start on the day the programme is switched on. Past sales and repairs are only used to work out each customer's tier history.

Can customers see their own points?

Not through Fixmo yet. A bill shows the points spent on it but not the balance, and nothing is sent to the customer. Your staff can tell them at the counter.

What happens when a customer stops coming?

Their tier drops one level a month once they no longer qualify. If you turn expiry on, their points expire after the number of months you chose without a purchase or a redemption.

Can staff give points away?

Only admins can add or remove points by hand unless you grant it to someone else, and every change needs a reason that stays in the customer's history.
