Scheduled promotions
An item can carry a promotional price as either a fixed amount or a percentage off, with a start and an end time. The promotion applies while it is running and stops when it ends, without anyone editing prices back on the day.

What it does
The hard part of a sale is not starting it. It is remembering to end it, which is how a weekend promotion runs for three weeks.
A promotion on an item is either a fixed sale price or a percentage off the sell price, between one and ninety nine.
It carries a start time and an end time. The end must be at least an hour after the start, which stops a promotion that ends before anyone can use it.
Items marked for the web carry the promotion out to a connected storefront along with everything else that syncs.

Questions
What happens when the promotion ends?
The item goes back to its normal sell price. Nothing needs editing on the day.
Can I set a promotion on a variable product?
Promotions are set per item, and each variation is an item, so you can promote one colour and not another.
Does this affect what I already sold?
No. A sale records the price charged at the time, so past sales are unaffected by a later promotion.
