Wholesale pricing

Every inventory item can carry a wholesale price alongside its cost and retail price. It is a separate stored field, so a trade customer can be charged the trade rate without anyone recalculating a discount at the counter.

An item's edit form with cost price, sell price and wholesale price as three separate fields.
A second stored price for trade customers, kept apart from cost so margin on a wholesale sale is still visible.

What it does

Shops that sell to other shops end up running two price lists. Usually one of them is in someone's head.

Wholesale is its own field on the item, sitting next to cost and sell. It is set once and it is visible where the other prices are.

Variations carry their own wholesale price, so a trade rate can differ by colour or capacity if that is how you buy it.

Cost stays separate from both, so margin on a trade sale is still something you can see rather than work out.

Questions

Does the till pick the wholesale price automatically?

No. The wholesale price is stored and visible, and the line price is chosen when the sale is made. Changing a line price is recorded in the price override log.

Can I have more than two price levels?

There are three stored figures per item: cost, sell and wholesale. Anything beyond that is set on the line at the time of sale.
