Email Notification Setup
Email Notification Overview
Fixmo sends automated email notifications to customers when repair statuses change, sales are completed, refunds are processed, and more. The Email settings page lets you connect your own email provider so messages come from your business address. Only Admins can access this page.
Connecting Gmail
Gmail is the simplest option and is available on all plans. You need a Gmail app password, which is different from your regular Gmail password. Regular passwords will not work.
- 1Navigate to Settings > Email from the sidebar.
- 2Select Gmail as your email provider.
- 3Enter your Gmail address in the email field.
- 4Enter your 16-character Gmail app password (not your regular Gmail password).
- 5Click 'Connect Email' to save and activate the connection.
To generate a Gmail app password: go to myaccount.google.com > Security > 2-Step Verification > App passwords. Select 'Mail' and copy the 16-character code. Two-factor authentication must be enabled on your Google account first.
Connecting Custom SMTP
Custom SMTP lets you use any email provider with SMTP access — Outlook, Yahoo, your business domain, or any third-party email service. This option is available on Pro and Business plans only.
- 1Navigate to Settings > Email from the sidebar.
- 2Select Custom SMTP as your provider.
- 3Enter your email address.
- 4Enter your SMTP password.
- 5Enter the SMTP Host (e.g., smtp.yourdomain.com or mail.yourdomain.com).
- 6Enter the SMTP Port (commonly 587 for TLS or 465 for SSL).
- 7Click 'Connect Email' to save and activate the connection.
Custom SMTP requires a Pro or Business plan. Free plan users can connect Gmail or use the default Fixmo email (noreply@fixmo.app).
Testing Your Connection
After connecting your email provider, send a test email to verify that everything is configured correctly. This ensures customers will receive notifications without issues.
- 1After connecting, the Email settings page shows your connected email address and provider name.
- 2Click the 'Send Test' button.
- 3Check your inbox for the test email from Fixmo.
- 4If the test email arrives, your connection is working correctly. If not, double-check your credentials and try again.
Connection Status Indicator
The Email settings page displays a connection status indicator showing whether your email provider is connected and active. A green status means emails are being sent from your connected address. When disconnected, the status shows that Fixmo is using the default noreply@fixmo.app address.
Disconnecting Your Email Provider
You can disconnect your email provider at any time if you want to stop sending from your own address or switch to a different provider.
- 1Navigate to Settings > Email.
- 2Click the 'Disconnect' button next to your connected provider.
- 3Confirm the disconnection.
- 4Fixmo immediately reverts to sending all notifications from noreply@fixmo.app via AWS SES.
Default Fallback Email
When no custom email provider is connected, Fixmo sends all customer notifications from noreply@fixmo.app using AWS SES (Simple Email Service). This ensures your customers still receive notifications even without a custom email setup. Connecting your own email is recommended for better deliverability and brand recognition.
Emails from your own business address are more likely to land in your customer's inbox rather than their spam folder. Connect your email provider for the best experience.
