What Are Commission Agents?

Commission agents are external salespeople or referrers who earn commission on the sales and repairs they bring into your repair shop. Unlike team members, agents are not part of your staff — they operate independently and receive payouts based on configurable commission rates. Common examples include independent sales reps, business partners, and referral affiliates.

The Agents List Page

The Agents page provides a complete overview of all your commission agents along with key financial metrics at the top.

  • Three summary cards at the top: Total Agents (count of all agents), Pending Payouts (total balance owed across all agents), and Total Paid (sum of all recorded payouts).
  • Each agent entry shows: name, nickname, phone number, email address, company name, commission rate and type, balance due, and counts of linked sales and repairs.
  • Search bar at the top to find agents by name, nickname, phone number, email address, or company name.
  • Click any agent row to open their detail page with full commission and payout history.

Agent Lifecycle

Commission agents in Fixmo follow a straightforward lifecycle from creation through to deactivation.

  • Create — add a new agent with contact details, company information, and default commission settings.
  • Link to sales and repairs — assign the agent when creating a sale or repair. Their default commission rate applies automatically unless overridden.
  • Commission accrues — each linked sale or repair generates a commission record based on the rate and type. The agent's total earned balance increases.
  • Record payouts — when you pay the agent, record the payout with the amount, method, and reference. The balance decreases accordingly.
  • Deactivate — when an agent is no longer active, deactivate them. Their history is preserved but they cannot be assigned to new transactions.

Who Can Access Agents

The Agents feature is restricted to administrative roles to protect financial data and ensure proper authorization.

  • Admin — full access: add, edit, deactivate agents, record payouts, view all commission history.
  • Manager — full access: add, edit agents, record payouts, view commission history for their branch.
  • Cashier — no access to the Agents page.
  • Technician — no access to the Agents page.

Frequently Asked Questions

What are commission agents in Fixmo?+
Commission agents are external salespeople or referrers who earn commission on sales and repairs they bring into your shop. They are not staff members — they work independently and receive payouts based on a commission rate you configure for each agent.
Who can manage commission agents?+
Only Admin and Manager roles can access the Agents page and manage commission agents. This includes adding new agents, editing agent details, recording payouts, and viewing commission history. Technicians and Cashiers do not have access.
What commission types does Fixmo support?+
Fixmo supports four commission types: Percentage (a percentage of the sale or repair total), Fixed (a flat amount per transaction), Per Product (a rate multiplied by the total item quantity), and Per Service (a flat rate per service engagement). Each agent has a default type that can be overridden per transaction.
How is an agent's balance calculated?+
An agent's balance is calculated as Total Earned minus Total Paid. Total Earned is the sum of all commission records across sales and repairs linked to the agent. Total Paid is the sum of all recorded payouts. If the balance is positive, the shop owes that amount to the agent.
