Products and Services Live in Two Lists

In Fixmo, a product (something you stock and count) and a service (labour or work you perform) are managed separately. On an invoice, quotation, or repair the item picker keeps them apart so each behaves correctly, products draw down stock, services don't.

  • Products & repair parts, added from the product search / Inventory tab of the picker.
  • Services, added from the Services tab of the picker (on repairs, from the service picker).
  • This is by design and is the same for every role, it isn't a permission difference.

Adding a Service to an Invoice or Quotation

If you're looking for a service and the product search comes up empty, switch tabs.

  1. Open or start an invoice or quotation and open the item picker.
  2. Click the Services tab (next to Inventory).
  3. Search and select the service you want to add.
  4. Set the price if needed and add it to the document.

Tip

If a product search returns no results, use the 'Looking for a service? Open the Services tab' link that appears to jump straight to services.

Frequently asked questions

Because products and services come from two separate lists. The product search on an invoice or quotation lists products and repair parts only. To add a service, switch to the Services tab in the item picker, that's where your services live. When a product search finds nothing, Fixmo now shows a 'Looking for a service? Open the Services tab' hint to point you there.

On a repair, use the service picker (the Services section of the repair) to add labour and service lines. Parts are added from the product/parts picker. The two are kept separate so parts affect stock while services don't.

Yes. In the POS, service-type items appear alongside products because the POS lists everything you can sell in one place. The split between a 'Products' list and a 'Services' tab applies to invoices, quotations, and repairs, not the POS.
