Keyboard Shortcuts
Keyboard Shortcuts in Fixmo
Fixmo supports keyboard shortcuts across the application to help you work faster. Shortcuts are available for global search, the POS terminal, the built-in calculator, and general navigation. All shortcuts work on both Mac and Windows unless noted otherwise.
Global Shortcuts
These shortcuts work from any page in the Fixmo dashboard.
- / (forward slash) — Open global search. Disabled when the cursor is inside a text input or textarea.
- Ctrl+K (Windows/Linux) or Cmd+K (Mac) — Open global search. Works regardless of where the cursor is focused.
- Escape — Close the search modal, close dropdown menus, or dismiss open dialogs.
The forward slash shortcut is intentionally disabled inside text fields so you can type the / character normally. Use Ctrl+K or Cmd+K instead when you are focused on an input.
POS Terminal Shortcuts
The POS terminal has dedicated shortcuts for common actions. Both Ctrl and Alt modifier keys work on all platforms. Cmd is not used in the POS to avoid conflicting with browser-level shortcuts on Mac.
- Ctrl+S or Alt+S — Focus the product search bar.
- Ctrl+P or Alt+P — Open the payment dialog.
- Ctrl+N or Alt+N — Start a new sale (clear the current cart).
- Ctrl+1 or Alt+1 — Switch to the Cart tab.
- Ctrl+2 or Alt+2 — Switch to the Recent Sales tab.
- Ctrl+3 or Alt+3 — Switch to the Calculator tab.
- Ctrl+4 or Alt+4 — Switch to the Customers tab.
POS Calculator Input
The POS calculator tab accepts direct keyboard input for fast calculations without clicking buttons.
- 0-9 — Enter digits directly.
- + (plus) — Addition operator.
- - (minus) — Subtraction operator.
- * (asterisk) — Multiplication operator.
- / (slash) — Division operator.
- Enter — Evaluate the current expression (equals).
- Backspace — Delete the last character.
- Delete or Escape — Clear the entire calculator display.
Navigation and Form Shortcuts
Standard navigation shortcuts work throughout Fixmo for moving through forms, dropdowns, and interactive elements.
- Arrow Down — Move to the next option in a dropdown or select menu.
- Arrow Up — Move to the previous option in a dropdown or select menu.
- Enter — Select the currently highlighted option or submit the active form.
- Tab — Move focus to the next interactive element (button, input, link).
- Shift+Tab — Move focus to the previous interactive element.
- Escape — Close the currently open dropdown, dialog, or modal.
Focus States and Accessibility
Fixmo is designed with keyboard accessibility in mind. All interactive elements have visible focus states and appropriate ARIA attributes to support screen readers and keyboard-only navigation.
- Focus ring indicators are visible on all buttons, inputs, links, and interactive components when navigated via keyboard.
- ARIA roles and labels are applied to dialogs, modals, dropdowns, and navigation menus.
- The search modal uses a dialog role with a screen-reader-only title for assistive technology.
- All icon-only buttons include sr-only (screen reader only) text labels describing their function.
- Form validation errors are announced to screen readers when they appear.
If you rely on screen readers or keyboard navigation, the global search modal (Ctrl+K) auto-focuses the search input when opened, making it immediately ready for typing.
