Accessing the POS Terminal

The POS terminal is a dedicated full-screen interface designed for fast sales transactions.

  1. 1Click 'POS' in the sidebar navigation or navigate to /pos.
  2. 2The POS opens with a two-panel layout: product grid on the left and cart panel on the right.
  3. 3The header shows a back button, 'Point of Sale' label, your name, and the shop name.
Note

The POS is accessible to Admin, Manager, and Cashier roles. If you see an access error, contact your shop Admin to check your role.

The Product Grid

The left panel displays your inventory items in a visual grid. Browse by category or search to find items quickly. The grid shows both simple and variable products.

  1. 1The search bar at the top accepts item names, SKUs, or barcode scans. It auto-focuses when the POS loads.
  2. 2Below the search bar, toggle between 'Top Selling' and 'Most Stock' to change the sort order.
  3. 3Category pills provide quick filtering — 'All' is selected by default, tap any category to filter.
  4. 4Each product card shows the item photo (or placeholder), name, price, and stock level.
  5. 5Stock levels at or below 3 are highlighted in red. Items with Track Stock disabled show 'Unlimited'.
  6. 6Click a simple product card to add it directly to the cart (or open the serial picker if serial-tracked).
  7. 7Click a variable product card to open the variant selector popup. Pick the specific variation, then it is added to the cart (or the serial picker opens if that variation is serial-tracked).
  8. 8The grid loads more items as you scroll down.

Cart Panel Tabs

The right panel has four tabs, each accessible via keyboard shortcuts. The Cart tab is selected by default.

  • Cart (Ctrl+1 / Alt+1) — your current sale items, totals, and payment button. Shows an item count badge.
  • Recent Sales (Ctrl+2 / Alt+2) — a scrollable list of sales from the last 30 days with status, customer, and total.
  • Calculator (Ctrl+3 / Alt+3) — a built-in calculator for quick math. Supports +, −, ×, ÷, and %.
  • Customers (Ctrl+4 / Alt+4) — search, create, edit, and delete customer records without leaving the POS.

Keyboard Shortcuts Reference

Speed up your workflow with keyboard shortcuts. Both Ctrl and Alt work as modifier keys on all platforms. Cmd (Mac) is excluded to avoid overriding browser shortcuts like Cmd+C or Cmd+R.

  • Ctrl+S / Alt+S — Focus the product search bar and select all text for quick replacement.
  • Ctrl+P / Alt+P — Open the payment dialog (only works when the cart has items and the total is greater than zero).
  • Ctrl+N / Alt+N — Clear the cart and start a new sale. Refocuses the search bar.
  • Ctrl+1 / Alt+1 — Switch to the Cart tab.
  • Ctrl+2 / Alt+2 — Switch to the Recent Sales tab.
  • Ctrl+3 / Alt+3 — Switch to the Calculator tab.
  • Ctrl+4 / Alt+4 — Switch to the Customers tab.
  • Left/Right Arrow — Navigate between tabs when the tab bar is focused.
  • Escape — Blur the current input, close the receipt modal, or return to the dashboard.
Tip

The calculator tab also supports full keyboard input: number keys for digits, +, -, *, / for operators, Enter for equals, Backspace to delete, and Escape to clear.

Viewing Recent Sales

The Recent Sales tab shows your latest transactions from the past 30 days. Scroll to load more.

  • Each sale shows the sale code (monospace), status badge, customer name (or 'Walk-in'), item count, total, and date.
  • Status badges: Completed (green), Voided (red), Refunded (amber).
  • The list uses infinite scroll — older sales load as you reach the bottom.

Using the Built-in Calculator

The Calculator tab provides a quick way to do math without leaving the POS — calculate change, check totals, or work out discounts.

  1. 1Switch to the Calculator tab (Ctrl+3 / Alt+3).
  2. 2Use the on-screen number pad or your keyboard to enter numbers.
  3. 3Tap or press an operator (+, −, ×, ÷) to begin a calculation.
  4. 4Press = or Enter to see the result.
  5. 5Use C or Escape to clear, and the delete button or Backspace to remove the last digit.
  6. 6The % button converts the current number to a percentage of the previous operand.

Managing Customers from the POS

The Customers tab lets you search, create, edit, and delete customer records directly from the POS terminal.

  1. 1Switch to the Customers tab (Ctrl+4 / Alt+4).
  2. 2Search for existing customers by name, phone, or email.
  3. 3Hover over a customer to reveal edit (pencil) and delete (trash) buttons.
  4. 4Click edit to update name, company name, phone, or email inline. Click Save to confirm.
  5. 5Delete is available to Admin users only. A confirmation dialog appears before removal.
