In-App Notifications
Notification Bell Overview
The notification bell is located in the top-right header of every page in Fixmo. It displays an animated unread count badge when you have new notifications. Clicking the bell opens a dropdown showing your most recent notifications with time-ago formatting. In-app notifications are available on Pro and Business plans.
Notification Types
Fixmo generates 7 types of in-app notifications, each with a distinct icon and color to help you identify the category at a glance.
- REPAIR_STATUS (Wrench icon) — triggered when a repair changes status, e.g., from Diagnosing to Repairing
- REPAIR_CREATED (Plus icon) — triggered when a new repair is created in your shop
- LOW_STOCK (Package icon, red) — triggered when an inventory item drops below its minimum stock threshold
- REPAIR_OVERDUE (AlertTriangle icon, red) — triggered when a repair passes its estimated completion date
- PAYMENT_RECEIVED (DollarSign icon, green) — triggered when a payment is logged on a repair
- TEAM_JOINED (Users icon) — triggered when a new team member accepts an invite and joins your shop
- PLAN_LIMIT (AlertTriangle icon, red) — triggered when your shop is approaching a monthly plan limit for repairs, sales, or inventory
Real-Time Polling
Fixmo automatically checks for new notifications every 10 seconds while the app is open in your browser. When new notifications arrive, the unread count badge on the bell icon updates with an animation. There is no need to refresh the page — new notifications appear in the dropdown as soon as they are detected.
Polling pauses when you navigate away from the browser tab and resumes when you return. This keeps network usage efficient without missing important updates.
Managing Your Notifications
The notification dropdown shows up to 20 of your most recent notifications. Each notification displays a time-ago label such as 'Just now', '1m ago', '3h ago', or '2d ago' for quick reference.

- 2Click any individual notification to mark it as read and navigate to the relevant page (e.g., clicking a Repair Status notification opens that repair).
