Repair Settings Overview

The Repair Settings page contains two configuration sections: Advance Payment and Repair Item Types. These settings control how repairs are created and categorized across your shop. Only Admins can access this page.

Configuring Advance Payments

Advance payments let you collect a deposit from customers when they submit a device for repair. You can make this optional or mandatory and set a default amount.

  1. 1Go to Settings > Repairs from the sidebar.
  2. 2Toggle the Advance Payment switch to enable this feature.
  3. 3Choose the required status: Optional (technician can skip) or Mandatory (must collect before saving).
  4. 4Choose the Payment Type: 'Fixed Amount' (a specific dollar amount) or 'Percentage of Estimate' (a percentage of the estimated repair cost).
  5. 5Set the default value (e.g., 500 for a fixed amount or 25 for 25%).
  6. 6Click 'Save Changes' to apply.
Tip

The default advance payment value auto-fills when creating a new repair. It can be adjusted for individual repairs. If set to Optional, the field appears but can be left at zero.

Managing Repair Item Types

Repair item types categorize the devices and items your shop works on. They appear as a dropdown when creating a new repair, making it quick to classify each job.

  • Hover over any item type to reveal edit and delete icons
  • Click the edit icon to rename an item type
  • Click the delete icon to remove an item type — if the type is in use by repairs, you must remove it from all repairs first
  • Item types with repairs linked to them show a usage count badge
  1. 1Scroll to the Repair Item Types section in Settings > Repairs.
  2. 2View your existing item types — items with repairs linked show a usage count badge.
  3. 3Click 'Add Type' to create a new item type.
  4. 4Enter the name (e.g., 'Phone', 'Laptop', 'Tablet', 'Watch', 'Printer', 'Car').
  5. 5Click 'Add' to save it to the list.
